Dear wife,
There is something powerful about a woman who chooses to honour her husband;
not because everything is perfect, but because she has chosen to walk in the
character of Christ.
Your honour may sometimes feel unseen. The sacrifices you make, the prayers you
pray, the encouragement you give, the times you choose grace over criticism, and
the moments you quietly support your husband may not always receive recognition.
But God sees.
Scripture says:
“The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one
tears hers down.” — Proverbs 14:1 (NIV)
Every time you choose words that build rather than destroy, patience rather than
anger, prayer rather than complaint, and wisdom rather than reaction, you are
building.
Honouring your husband does not mean that you cannot disagree with him. It does
not mean that you must remain silent about difficult issues or pretend that everything
is fine or keep quiet when you are being abused, NO!!
A man who loves Christ and has allowed God to be head of his home will reflect the
character of Christ in his home. He will have a better understanding to love his wife
as Christ loved the Church.
Husbands, love your wives the same as Christ loved the church and gave his
life for it. Ephesians 5:25 (ERV)
Biblical honour is not weakness. It is strength under the leadership of the Holy
Spirit.
You can speak truth and still speak with grace.
You can have boundaries and still have honour.
You can disagree and still show respect.
You can encourage your husband while trusting God to work in the areas you cannot
change.
“A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown, but a disgraceful wife is
like decay in his bones.” — Proverbs 12:4 (NIV)
Your husband may face battles you cannot see. He may carry pressures he does not
always know how to express. Your encouragement can become a place of refuge
rather than another source of pressure.
There will be seasons when you will need to remind yourself that you are not your
husband’s Holy Spirit. You cannot change him, fix him, or carry every burden for
him.
You can pray.
You can encourage.
You can communicate.
You can honour.
And then you can trust God.
“Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this.” — Psalm 37:5
(NIV)
When your marriage enters a difficult season, don’t underestimate the power of
standing together.
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour.” —
Ecclesiastes 4:9 (NIV)
There may be moments when you feel tired of giving, tired of waiting, or tired of
believing. But remember, honour is not about getting everything you want from
your husband; it is about becoming the woman God has called you to be.
And God is faithful to strengthen you.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a
harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9 (NIV)
So, keep building.
Keep praying.
Keep speaking life.
Keep choosing wisdom.
Keep honouring God in the way you love your husband.
And when you cannot see the fruit of your faithfulness yet, remember that God sees
what people overlook.
Your quiet obedience matters.
Your prayers matter.
Your kindness matters.
Your integrity matters.
Your honour matters.
May God give you wisdom to know when to speak and when to be silent, when to
encourage and when to confront, when to stand beside your husband and when to
give him room to grow.
And may your marriage become a testimony of what happens when two people
continually surrender their lives to God.
“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of
sins.” — 1 Peter 4:8 (NIV)
You are not honouring your husband because he is perfect. You are honouring
God through the way you choose to love, respect, and walk with your
husband.
Keep going, dear wife.
Your faithfulness is not wasted, your prayers are not unheard, and your God is
not finished with your story.
